Kimchi

Mixed Breed · Female

Kimchi was once a happy dog with her own home, a warm bed, and a person who was just hers. But that didn't work out. Her owner couldn't provide the care Kimchi needed, so she ended up here. At first glance, Kimchi may seem like a cheerful dog. But under all those fur, she's hiding some serious health issues. Kimchi has her hind legs twisted inwards. One patella pops out with every movement. The other one looks like it's permanently dislocated. Poor Kimchi weighs almost twice as much as she should. And as we all know, obesity puts more strain on already sick knees... So Kimchi doesn't really enjoy the joy of movement. Every step is painful. She's not a dog grandma, but a young, two-year-old female. On top of all that, Kimchi is always out of breath. Her heart sounds fine, so it looks like obesity combined with a longer soft palate and atypical airways is the culprit. And if that wasn't enough, she also has allergies. As soon as Kimchi loses some weight, she'll need surgery on her legs. That will allow her to run and play without any restrictions. We're also dealing with her allergies. She needs to bathe in special shampoo every week. Adopt a pet remotely and experience the journey to a new beginning together with it. We'll use the funds to buy food, cat litter, and cover veterinary and other costs related to caring for the animals.

CS·Show original

Ta jí umožní zase běhat a řádit úplně bez omezení. Kromě toho řešíme i její alergie.

About Kimchi

What life with Kimchi looks like

Kimchi is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Handipet Rescue Hoření Vinice in Czech Republic.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇨🇿Adopting from Czech Republic

Czech shelters (útulky) include sterilization, vaccinations, and microchip ID. The adopter signs a written contract (smlouva) — the shelter may follow up to verify wellbeing.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kimchi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kimchi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Handipet Rescue Hoření Vinice handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kimchi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kimchi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Handipet Rescue Hoření Vinice will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kimchi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kimchi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Handipet Rescue Hoření Vinice early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kimchi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (CS). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
