Kira

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 11 years

♀, born ca. 10/2014 loving - social - active in Spain Kira is a ca. 10/2014 born Podenco Andaluz female dog with a shoulder height of ca. 50 cm. She weighs about 18 kg. Kira was found in July '25 by an animal rescuer on the street near Linares/Spain. She was injured, disoriented, undernourished, and very hungry. After Kira was fattened up, she blossomed. The veterinarian estimated her age to be approximately 11 years old, but Kira is not yet old! She still has a lot of energy, likes to play, and enjoys long walks. In the house, she is quiet and house-trained, and gets along well with fellow animals, although she does not share her food. Cats are not among her friends. Now, Kira has been searching for a family for a year. She is so loving and clingy that we do not understand why she has not yet been adopted. Kira is already neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and tested negative for Mediterranean diseases. She is in a foster home of the animal rescuer in Andalusia/Spain. The adoption fee for Kira is 460 Euro. Would you like to give Kira a home? Then please contact us via our following contact form. ©2022 by Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. Created with Wix.

About Kira

What life with Kira looks like

Kira is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. in Berlin.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kira, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kira?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kira on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kira if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kira already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kira isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kira and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
