adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Kira may stay! Her story: The beautiful Kira is a loving, friendly, and attentive young female dog. At home, she is a totally calm and relaxed female dog. She prefers to lie on the couch or in the room where her foster parent is currently located. She seeks a lot of closeness and loves to snuggle. She is still a bit reserved towards strangers. Women usually open up to her quite quickly, while men show some skepticism. However, her foster parent can now pet her, and she remains relaxed. Kira therefore needs a bit more time to warm up. Kira is afraid of small children, so a family with older, dog-experienced children would be more suitable. She meets other dogs friendly on the leash but is still a bit unsure. She is currently learning to go for walks. Regarding house training, she signals when she needs to go. She is always friendly to the two cats in her foster home. Sometimes she wants to play with them, but she quickly understands when it is too close or too much for the cat. Kira is approximately 1.5 years old and has an agreeable medium size of about 43 cm. Considering her age, Kira is still playful. She has not yet learned to be alone due to the short time in her foster home. Driving is not a problem. Kira came to the shelter with her nine puppies without any history. Despite her still young age, she has lovingly raised her puppies to healthy little dogs. For Kira, we are looking for a more quiet, dog-experienced family who will lovingly and confidently guide her through life. She should be able to settle into her new life with patience and time. Her home should be more in the rural area. After the adjustment period, she would definitely be happy to attend a positively working dog training class, as regular training and many activities with the playful and intelligent female dog will strengthen her self-confidence and the bond to her new owners. Kira will move neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas into a new EU pet home. She will be placed after a positive adjustment period. We would like to thank the namingsponsor Jannika K. for choosing the name for our lovely Kira. As of: 18.02.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Kira darf bleiben! Stand: 18.02.2026

About Kira

What life with Kira looks like

Kira is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kira, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kira?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kira on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kira if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kira already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kira isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kira and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
