adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Klausi has found a home! His story: Klausi was found alone on the street and had the immediate good fortune of being placed in one of the few foster homes in Romania. There, he was well cared for, received his meals daily, and got along immediately with all his doggy friends. Unfortunately, however, he now had to move into our shelter, as the foster family could no longer keep him for private reasons. The small space and the noise are now very stressful for the little dog. It's not easy for Klausi, who longs so much for his own home. At his tender age of about one year and his small stature, Klausi is an ideal companion for anyone looking for a young dog who simply wants to belong. His fluffy fur, gentle demeanor, and loving nature make him a small soul comforter on four legs. Klausi gets along with other dogs without any problems – whether male or female, he is social, friendly, and playful. Whether he likes cats, we cannot say at the moment, as that has not been tested yet. He loves people above all else: especially if they have time for cuddles, closeness, and soft words. He absorbs it like a sponge. Of course, as a young dog, Klausi still has a lot of learning potential. Leash training, house training, and being left alone are still on his to-do list. But in general, Klausi wants to please – a great trait for the start and future in the new family. With patience, loving consistency, and possibly through attending a positively working dog training class, he can learn everything a family dog needs to know. And then there's puberty: Yes, Klausi will eventually enter the phase where "sit" no longer counts, the recall sounds like a joke, and the world is so exciting that rules seem optional. But: Who accompanies him lovingly during this time, remains consistent, and can laugh at the occasional mischievous chapter, will be rewarded at the end with a great companion. Klausi is microchipped, vaccinated, neutered, dewormed, and has an EU pet passport. Who falls in love with this little button with the big heart and finally gives him the home he so deserves? Thank you, dear Katharina – with your nametag sponsorship, Klausi has already taken the first step towards a happy ending. 💛 As of 04.07.

💛 Stand: 04.07.2025

About Klausi

What life with Klausi looks like

Klausi is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Klausi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Klausi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Klausi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Klausi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Klausi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Klausi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Klausi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
