Knöpfchen – auf Dauerpflegestelle

European Shorthair · Male · Adult · 6 years

Button has had a long journey and a lot to endure in his short life. We took him in from Smeura. He was found on the road 300km away from Smeura at -19 degrees with his right hind leg immobile. It is likely that his spine was injured in an accident, but this will be clarified at his big appointment at the clinic. He is incredibly affectionate and playful, but also still a bit skittish. Button has probably not really experienced much good in his life and it seems like everything is new to him. He gets along great with the existing cats and dogs at the foster home. He runs and dashes through the entire house. Initially very frightened, he has now thawed and nothing can stop him now. He should still be introduced to new situations with caution and under supervision. Confident, playful playmates should be waiting for the little guy in his new home, because he looks up to them and wants to learn a lot. We will not place him in a home where he is alone. The little diaper-thrower (as our cat whisperer lovingly calls him) needs his diaper because he uncontrollably passes stool and urine. All of this was clarified at the clinic and unfortunately his one hind leg is partially paralyzed and his incontinence behavior will unfortunately not improve. Nevertheless, he is so active and all this doesn't bother him at all. He dashes through the apartment and has a lot of fun doing it. That's what I wish for.

About Knöpfchen – auf Dauerpflegestelle

What life with Knöpfchen – auf Dauerpflegestelle looks like

Knöpfchen – auf Dauerpflegestelle is a large adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierheim Alsfeld in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Knöpfchen – auf Dauerpflegestelle, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Knöpfchen – auf Dauerpflegestelle?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Alsfeld handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Knöpfchen – auf Dauerpflegestelle on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Knöpfchen – auf Dauerpflegestelle if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Alsfeld will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Knöpfchen – auf Dauerpflegestelle already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Knöpfchen – auf Dauerpflegestelle isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Alsfeld early rather than rehoming privately; they know Knöpfchen – auf Dauerpflegestelle and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
