Kolumbusz

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

A charming Colombus roamed the streets of Orgovany on August 10, 2026, as a stray. Fortunately, the shelter was informed and Colombus was promptly picked up. He was visibly relieved and readily climbed into the car. Upon arrival at the shelter, a chip was searched for, but unfortunately, it was unsuccessful. Despite posting on Facebook, no one claimed Colombus, and no one was missing him. For us, it's always incomprehensible, but for Colombus, it's a chance for a loving and responsible home where he will never be left behind. Colombus is a fine fellow, a bit shy in the first few minutes, but he quickly warms up with caresses and kind words, and then the ice is broken. He is a dear, friendly, lively, curious, funny, and nice boy who now wants to explore the world with his people. He craves affection and attention, and he has a lot of catching up to do, he needs a lot of love and closeness. Walking on a leash needs to be further developed, as do some things from the dog multiplication table, but he is smart and will quickly grasp the missed things if he is lovingly guided. Colombus will certainly be a great companion for his new people and it will be a pleasure to spend time with him and teach him a few tricks. Maybe he has fun with agility or other dog stuff, as long as he has a nice time together with his two-legged ones. Colombus gets along well with his fellow dogs and is currently (September 4, 2026) being integrated into a mixed pack. For our dearest Colombus, the sun should shine as soon as possible. We are looking for loving and dog-enthusiastic people who will welcome Colombus in their home forever. He needs species-appropriate occupation, he wants to be challenged and promoted. The daily cuddle hours may not be too short, as well as exciting and varied walks, enough rest phases, a visit to a dog school and 100% family connection. Colombus has a lot of love to give and wants to be a faithful companion to his people. To whom may the lively Colombus give his heart? Colombus can travel from around the end of September/beginning of October 2026 if he has found a home or a foster home.

About Kolumbusz

What life with Kolumbusz looks like

Kolumbusz is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kolumbusz, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kolumbusz?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kolumbusz on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kolumbusz if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kolumbusz already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kolumbusz isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kolumbusz and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
