Adopt Koma

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Koma is a young, three-year-old female dog who came under the foundation's care after an intervention in Sobolewie. This is another wounded soul who perceives the outside world and contact with humans as something unknown and frightening. Although her fear is visible, Koma shows no sign of aggression – in stressful situations, such as at the veterinarian, she simply freezes in place, waiting to see what will happen. Although Koma is a shy dog, there is a great curiosity about the world sleeping inside her. On walks, she is initially tense and unsure (especially when leaving the shelter), but after a while she starts walking very nicely and calmly, not pulling on the leash. Her huge advantage is her attitude towards other animals – Koma loves the company of dogs, is very interested in them, and is friendly towards every dog she meets. Cats also only arouse in her healthy interest, without any signs of aggression. We are looking for a home for Koma that is aware and patient, who has experience or is open to working with a fearful dog. It would be ideal to have another stable dog by her side, who would be her guide and support in overcoming fears of street movement or new people. At home, Koma is a model dog: she keeps herself clean, doesn't destroy objects, and doesn't make noise when left alone. This gentle female dog just needs a safe harbor to turn her fear into trust. — METRYCZKA — 🧮 Age: 02.02.2023 🚻 Sex: female dog 🐾 Size: 17.5 kg 🏀 Activity: moderate ❤️ Neutering: yes ℹ️ Chip: yes 💉 Vaccinations: yes 📍 Place of residence:

About Koma

What life with Koma looks like

Koma is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Judyta dla Psiego Losu in Poland.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Koma, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Koma?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Judyta dla Psiego Losu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Koma on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Koma if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Judyta dla Psiego Losu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Koma already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Koma isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Judyta dla Psiego Losu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Koma and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
