Jessy

Mixed Breed · Unknown

In Romania, the problem of stray dogs is particularly evident in areas where poor people live. When people do not have the resources to take care of themselves, animals are also left to poor care. So, unneutered dogs often run free and breed uncontrollably. A poorly-off man had a group of dogs that lived in his yard and around the yard. Animal welfare activists regularly visited him and managed to negotiate with the man to take the dogs with them. Finally, the last two were taken to safety. The duo named Leeloo and Jessy ended up at Eli for Animals' Claudian, from where they are now looking for their own homes. Leeloo is very likely Jessy's puppy. Jessy is a friendly person. She loves people and would love to spend most of the day either in someone's arms or on the sofa in someone's lap. However, she also has the temperament of a small dog and at the shelter she has been able to defend herself loudly against larger dogs. Jessy would probably suit many different homes and would do well with either being the only dog or with a dog companion. Leeloo and Jessy sometimes have disagreements, and it is likely that Jessy would like to move to a new home without her grown-up puppy.

Lopulta viimeiset kaksi saatiin haettua turvaan. Leelooksi ja Jessyksi nimetty kaksikko päätyi Eli for Animalsin Claudian luo, mistä käsin he nyt etsivät omia kotejaan. Leeloo on hyvin todennäköisesti Jessyn pentu.Jessy on ystävällinen persoona.

About Jessy

What life with Jessy looks like

Jessy is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Embla Rescue in Helsinki.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇮Adopting from Finland

Finnish shelters require a home visit and an adoption contract. Animals are vetted; the EU pet passport covers cross-border travel within the bloc.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jessy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jessy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Embla Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jessy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jessy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Embla Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Jessy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jessy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Embla Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jessy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FI). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
