Lacky

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Together is better than alone – two inseparable ones are looking for a shared home! Lacky and Larsy are brother and sister. This sibling pair originally comes from the frontline area of Ukraine. For some time now, the traumatized siblings have been living in Germany. On the experienced foster home, they have been able to develop positively. Lacky has a stubborn head and is more relaxed and quiet in nature. The lovable dog shows a strong dependency on his sister and is fixated on Larsy in everything. His world falls apart if she cannot be with him. Lacky meets all new situations and strangers with great caution and needs a longer time to adjust to these experiences. In his familiar and "normal" living environment, Lacky shows joy of life, exuberance, and radiates happiness. The two siblings play wildly and excitedly together. He is a gentle teddy bear who is very person-oriented towards his caretaker. However, Lacky's trust must be earned. He has a willingness to learn, but he learns at his own pace. Here too, he closely follows his sister. Lacky has clouding of both eyes (cataract). He is under veterinary treatment. No deterioration has been detected. The eye condition currently does not cause any limitations in daily life. Lacky now easily accepts the eye drops. A complementary alternative therapy is also taking place. Special dog souls need special life solutions. The sibling pair has always been together. They are a unit – they have always oriented themselves towards each other and supported each other. Therefore, we are looking for a shared home for Lacky and Larsy. It should be quiet and located in the countryside. There should be no other animals living there and a securely fenced garden is a requirement for the

About Lacky

What life with Lacky looks like

Lacky is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lacky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lacky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lacky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lacky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lacky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lacky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lacky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
