Lakis

Pointer · Male · Young · 2 years

Lakis is a Pointer mix, born on September 1, 2023, approximately 70 cm tall and weighing around 18 kg. He is neutered and socialized with other dogs and children. He is not familiar with cats and will be tested for the Mediterranean test, which has come back negative. A current test will be conducted before his departure. Lakis was surrendered by a private individual who did not properly care for him at the end of 2024. He is a very affectionate and friendly dog. He is living with Aris, another Pointer, and the two have a good living arrangement. For a hunting dog, he is quite calm. He enjoys giving his paw and asking for pets. Naturally, Lakis is an athletic dog who also enjoys relaxing. If desired, X-rays can be taken before his journey to the new home for a fee to ensure all joints are in order. The fee will depend on the number of X-rays taken. Additional dogs and our application form can be found on our website.

Lakis Rasse: Pointer Mischling Alter: geb. 01.09.2023 Größe: ca. 70 cm Gewicht: ca. 18Kg Kastriert: Ja andere Hunde? Ja Kinder? Kennt er nicht Katzen? Muss getestet werden Mittelmeertest? Negativ!

About Lakis

What life with Lakis looks like

Lakis is a young adult pointer dog waiting at Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. in Germany.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lakis, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lakis?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lakis on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lakis if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Lakis already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lakis isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lakis and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
