His mother is named Lykke, and his siblings are Tash, Greta, Silas, Fietje, and Kimba. Most of the siblings have either already been adopted or have at least a firm placement in sight. However, Lakota is still lagging behind – and that should not be his future. He should not be left alone in the shelter while all the others make the step into life. Lakota is no longer a small puppy but an approximately 6-month-old teenager, currently in the middle of his important developmental phase. With a current shoulder height of around 50 cm, he is already growing properly and symbolizes all the young dogs in Romania who must begin their lives behind bars much too early. We assume that he will reach a medium to large size later. At first, Lakota shows some shyness towards new people. He observes, stays a little distant, and needs a moment to orient himself. But with calmness and friendly conversation, he quickly warms up, becomes curious, and then seeks proximity. Once he has gained trust, he shows clingy, gentle, and very lovable behavior. Lakota has so far no life in a house. House training, leash manners, and everyday routines are what he must learn. As a young dog in the transition phase to puberty, he will question rules, test boundaries, and likely have some silly ideas in his head. With patience, loving consistency, and clear guidance, he can develop well. Positive working dog training classes can help give him security and strengthen the bond to his people. Given his background, we assume that Lakota has parts of a herding dog mix in him. Accordingly, we are looking for people who enjoy shared mental stimulation, are willing to deal with breed-typical characteristics, and can offer both mental and physical stimulation. An ideal environment for him would be a more rural setting. Lakota should not grow up in the shelter. Right now, in this sensitive age, he needs closeness, understanding, and trusted people who will accompany him through his maturation. He has more than earned not to spend his youth behind bars but to grow up protected and learn about life. Lakota can travel to his new home microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated with an EU pet passport. We would also be very happy to have a foster home for Lakota, as it would help him take the first step out of the shelter and into a normal dog life. Lakota stammt aus einem Wurf, den niemand haben wollte. Seine Mutter heißt Lykke, seine Geschwister sind Tash, Greta, Silas, Fietje und Kimba. Der Großteil der Geschwister ist inzwischen entweder ausgereist oder hat zumindest eine feste Zusage in Aussicht. Lakota jedoch ist noch zurückgeblieben – und genau das soll nicht seine Zukunft sein. Er soll nicht alleine im Shelter zurückbleiben, während alle anderen den Schritt ins Leben schaffen. Lakota ist kein kleines Hundebaby mehr, sondern inzwischen ein etwa 10 Monate alter Teenager, der sich mitten in seiner wichtigen Entwicklungsphase befindet. Aktuell hat er eine Schulterhöhe von ca. 55 cm. Ein bisschen wird er wahrscheinlich noch wachsen. Anfangs zeigt sich Lakota neuen Menschen gegenüber noch ein wenig schüchtern. Er beobachtet, bleibt kurz auf Abstand und braucht einen Moment, um sich zu orientieren. Doch mit Ruhe und freundlicher Ansprache taut er schnell auf, wird neugierig und sucht dann auch Nähe. Hat er Vertrauen gefasst, zeigt er sich anhänglich, sanft und sehr liebenswert. Mit Artgenossen beiden Geschlechts ist der tolle Rüde verträglich. Wie selbstverständlich kennt Lakota bislang kein Leben im Haus. Stubenreinheit, Leinenführigkeit und Alltagsroutinen muss er erst lernen. Als junger Hund in der Übergangsphase zur Pubertät wird er Regeln hinterfragen, Grenzen testen und sicher auch Blödsinn im Kopf haben. Mit Geduld, liebevoller Konsequenz und klarer Führung wird er sich jedoch gut entwickeln können. Eine positiv arbeitende Hundeschule kann dabei helfen, ihm Sicherheit zu geben und die Bindung zu seinen Menschen zu stärken. Aufgrund seiner Herkunft gehen wir davon aus, dass Lakota Anteile eines Hütehund-Mixes in sich trägt. Entsprechend wünschen wir uns Menschen, die Freude an gemeinsamer Beschäftigung haben, sich mit rassetypischen Eigenschaften auseinandersetzen und ihm sowohl geistige als auch körperliche Auslastung bieten. Ein eher ländliches Umfeld wäre für ihn ideal. Lakota soll nicht im Shelter groß werden. Gerade jetzt, in diesem sensiblen Alter, braucht er Nähe, Verständnis und feste Bezugspersonen, die ihn durchs Erwachsenwerden begleiten. Er hat es mehr als verdient, seine Jugend nicht hinter Gittern zu verbringen, sondern behütet aufzuwachsen und das Leben kennenzulernen. Lakota kann kastriert, gechipt, geimpft, entwurmt und entfloht mit EU‑Heimtierausweis in sein neues Zuhause reisen. Auch über eine Pflegestelle würden wir uns sehr freuen, da sie Lakota helfen würde, den ersten Schritt raus aus dem Shelter und hinein in ein normales Hundeleben zu machen. Ein herzliches Dankeschön geht an Melle S., die Lakota ihren Namen und damit eine eigene Identität geschenkt hat.
