Lalo &#8211

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Lalo now lives in 99947 Kirchheilingen. All the best, Lalo. Many thanks, Mrs. Dr. B. Lalo has been in the care of animal welfare workers from Dolmen Animal since February 2023, and for this one-and-a-half-year-old male dog, the small facility of our friends is already almost heaven on earth. Lalo belonged to a shepherd whose dogs were confiscated by the police due to poor breeding conditions. One can probably not imagine what must happen in Spain for the authorities to intervene - and then Lalo unfortunately ended up in the Perrera. Since October 2022, Lalo sat in a dark concrete hole, saw dogs come and go, was surrounded by the smell of illness and death and the sounds of fear and loneliness. When our partners rescued Lalo from prison, the handsome and unusual mixed breed was so thin it was down to the bone. Lalo had severe stomach problems and feared any touch from people. But after just three weeks, our curly-haired pup discovered how to enjoy a good life. After he had gained some weight, he cautiously began to play with the other dogs (now Lalo prefers to be right in the middle rather than just watching). Very quickly, he accepted that the animal welfare workers would stay nearby, kindly stroke his back as they ran past, and lovingly let his soft ears glide through their hands. Soon afterwards, Lalo learned how to ask for a biscuit and gently take it from a hand. Lalo is a water dog mix, but his other genes probably also owe much to the influence of herding dogs. Accordingly, our calm and thoughtful charmer is a very clever head. Lalo enjoys exploring his environment, even though he still proceeds carefully and reservedly. Slowly, you can feel how young the lively mixed breed still is, and we could easily imagine that under the curls there is a real play machine waiting to emerge. Lalo wants to learn and finally have a real home, he wishes for people who can explain the world to him, who know that a herding dog wants to be challenged and supported. He would really like hands that have time every day to give him love and assure him that he is now safe for the rest of his life... Can you help us make Lalo's dreams come true?

Lalo lebt jetzt in 99947 Kirchheilingen. Alles Gute, Lalo. Herzlichen Dank, Fr.

About Lalo &#8211

What life with Lalo &#8211 looks like

Lalo &#8211 is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lalo &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lalo &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lalo &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lalo &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lalo &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lalo &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lalo &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
