Adopt Lana

Female · Adult · 5 years

Lana is a beautiful mixed breed Mechelse herder x stafford of 5 years old. Don't be misled by the photo, Lana is certainly not such a big girl. She came to us after being tied to a tree. Eventually the owner was found so we could still get information about this beautiful girl. Lana was handed over because she cannot be left alone at home. Then she chews things up and tries to find a way back to her owner. She is fine being inside both during the day and at night, when she is alone at home she stays in the crate. This worked certainly for a period of 4 hours. She lived together with another dog and that went well. She also lived together with 3 cats and that went well too. She lived with children and she got along well with them. In addition, Lana is a big cuddly person and a people lover. Lana is not car sick. She is housebroken. When she is alone in the garden she tries to escape. Lana is now looking for her golden bed. We are looking for people who can and want to work on her being alone. She can be tested with an own stable male dog. She can be placed with children aged 12 and older who already know how to handle dogs properly. She will only be placed to live indoors! A securely enclosed garden where she can stretch her paws is a must for Lana. Who can give our lovely lady a good home?

About Lana

What life with Lana looks like

Lana is a adult dog waiting at Dierenasiel Sint-Hubertus in Aalst.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lana, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lana?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenasiel Sint-Hubertus handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lana on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lana if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenasiel Sint-Hubertus will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lana already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lana isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenasiel Sint-Hubertus early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lana and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
