ŁAPEK

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 6 years

Born in 2020, ŁAPEK arrived at a small rescue shelter in Kożuchów in September 2024, and has been under our care since April 2025. He is an extremely friendly and affectionate dog who immediately wins hearts with his charm and energy. When interacting with people, he is very enthusiastic - happily jumps up and wags his tail. He reacts with great joy to the sight of a leash, as walks are a big pleasure for him. During walks, ŁAPEK sniffs a lot, explores the area, digs the ground in search of scents and to release accumulated emotions. He has a lot of energy and likes to run ahead, but can also take a break - then he lies down in a characteristic "frog" position or rolls around contentedly in the grass. This shows that despite his liveliness, he can calm down, especially when he feels safe and comfortable. Currently at the animal shelter, ŁAPEK is very excited when seeing other dogs - he strongly pulls towards passing dogs and barks loudly at other dogs, which is likely a reaction to an overload of stimuli and emotions. In a new, quiet home, with the appropriate approach and socialization, this can certainly be worked on. He is a dog full of joy, curiosity about the world, and desire to interact with people. He loves being petted, and enjoys being close to people. He is very positively oriented towards his surroundings, which makes spending time with him a pure pleasure. ŁAPEK has a history of an old broken leg. An orthopedic consultation showed that it does not make sense to break and reset the bone again. We hope this injury will not cause his wait for a new home to be prolonged. We are looking for a loving home for ŁAPEK, which will provide him with walks, which he loves so much, as well as human company, which he currently lacks so much. He is a dog who will repay you with his whole heart!

To pies pełen radości, ciekawości świata i chęci kontaktu z człowiekiem. Uwielbia mizianki, głaskanie i przebywanie blisko ludzi.

About ŁAPEK

What life with ŁAPEK looks like

ŁAPEK is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Zielonej Górze in Zielona Góra.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting ŁAPEK, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about ŁAPEK?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Zielonej Górze handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw ŁAPEK on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt ŁAPEK if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Zielonej Górze will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is ŁAPEK already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if ŁAPEK isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Zielonej Górze early rather than rehoming privately; they know ŁAPEK and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
