Layla

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 8 months

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Layla had a difficult start in life. Found together with her sisters Linn and Cara, they were curled up tightly against each other, seeking comfort from one another. Their mother was already deceased. Where they came from and what exactly happened will never be known. What is certain is that the young female dogs were left on their own far too early. Cara has since been able to travel abroad. Layla and Linn are still waiting – and should not be left behind. Today, Layla lives in a private shelter with Paul in Baia Mare. She is there in safety and is reliably cared for, but a shelter cannot replace a home. Despite everything, Layla clearly shows that she holds onto hope – for a life outside the cage, for people who will give her peace, closeness, and security. Layla is approximately 8 months old, currently measuring about 48 cm and will grow to be of medium size. She has deep black fur with small white markings, a black nose, and warm brown eyes. Her expression is gentle and attentive at the same time. Layla was born with a shortened tail, which in no way affects her.

About Layla

What life with Layla looks like

Layla is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Layla, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Layla?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Layla on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Layla if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Layla already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Layla isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Layla and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
