Adopt Leone

Male · Senior · 13 years

Do you want to give Leone, the beautiful Maremmano, a good new home? Then we look forward to your message. During our project trip in late March 2023, we also got to see Leone again. He is still waiting for his ticket to his dream home. Would you like to take Leone into your family? October 31, 2024: In mid-October 2024, we were on team tour again. Over four days, we were accompanied by engaged team members who wanted to meet our partners and dogs and cats or see them again. One of our stops was at our partners in Oschiri, where, in addition to already known animals, a few new arrivals joined. So we also reconnected with the Maremmano Leone, who unfortunately still waits for his dream home. He thoroughly enjoyed the many cuddles and shows himself as a very loving and gentle male dog. Now we want to do everything we can to give him a place in Germany. Because he should finally be able to enjoy undivided attention in his life, be allowed to call a warm, soft spot to lie on his own, and have a happy old age. If you want to ensure that Leone finally leaves the small shelter and you want to give him a loving home, we look forward to your contact. We provide support throughout Germany.

About Leone

What life with Leone looks like

Leone is a senior dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Leone, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Leone?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Leone on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Leone if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Leone already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Leone isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Leone and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
