Adopt Leontin

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Native Country: Hungary The beautiful Leontin arrived as a found dog at the animal shelter on January 27, 2026. He was found wandering aimlessly on the fields in Kecskemét and reported to the animal shelter. As expected, he was neither microchipped nor had anyone reported him missing. Whether Leontin was abandoned there or ran away from home, we do not know. In any case, another wonderful four-legged friend is waiting to be discovered by loving people who will care for him and make his new life happy. Leontin makes the most of his new situation. Nevertheless, he wants to exchange the animal shelter for his own home as soon as possible. Leontin is a friendly, lively, and affectionate four-legged friend. In the first few minutes, he is a bit shy until he checks out the situation and understands that people mean him well, then a curious and happy puppy emerges. He has realized how wonderful cuddles and attention from humans can be, which was likely a lack in his previous life. He is very affectionate and clingy and has a lot of catch-up to do. Walking on a leash already works quite well, as practice makes perfect. Of course, Leontin also needs to be taught a few things from the dog ABC with loving guidance, but with loving instruction, he will quickly make up for what he missed. Leontin wants to finally explore the big, wide world and spend many beautiful hours with his people. He aced his first Mentorsaturday with great success. He enjoyed the many stroking hands and the love of the mentors. They have already won Leontin over and wish him only the best home. He gets along well with his four-legged dog buddies and lives in a mixed pack. For our charming Leontin, we are looking for enthusiastic and adventurous dog lovers and a loving home. Leontin deserves the chance to be a valued friend to people and make up for everything he would love to experience: fun and varied walks, dog-appropriate exercise, love, security, care, daily cuddles, and 100% family integration. A home where he is cared for and loved and where he can enjoy his life carefree and without worry. Who shows Leontin how wonderful life can be? On February 27, 2026, a voluntary, Hungarian helper wrote: "Leontin arrived in the care of the animal shelter in January 2026. On a mentor day, we met him at the playground of the animal shelter. Leontin is a lovely, friendly, and dog-loving dog. On the playground, he sought the company of the mentors and enjoyed cuddles and affection. He is cuddly and longs for love, a lot of mental stimulation, and care. He is attentive, grateful, and tries to please. He lives with several other dogs and has integrated well into the group. On the leash, he is led." Leontin can travel from mid/end March 2026 if he has found a home or a foster home.

About Leontin

What life with Leontin looks like

Leontin is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Leontin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Leontin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Leontin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Leontin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Leontin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Leontin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Leontin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
