Lexi - a gentle soul looking for her safe home Hello, I am little Lexi (4 years old, chipped, vaccinated, spayed) I am a very gentle little dog (30 cm, 7 kg) and I am just learning about the world step by step. My dear foster mom has taught me a lot! I make progress every day. My owner has already taught me sit and stay - and I am very proud of that! But I love it even more when my belly is stroked. That's when I can relax and enjoy. I am also becoming bolder outside. My walks are still small, but I have already explored some meadows outside the property. For me, these small trips are big steps. People I don't know yet sometimes scare me - especially men unsettle me. That's why I need people who give me time, patience and a lot of understanding. I orient myself very much to my owner and look for someone who gives me security and shows me that I can rely on my people. I also do great with house training: except for two small accidents, I am already house trained. Great, right? I get along well with other dogs and cats. I wish for a garden so I can relieve myself there, in case unknown sounds in the big wide world keep me from going outside! Small children are definitely not for me! I'd rather watch them from a distance! I am a small, gentle little dog with an equally gentle soul. For my new home, I wish for loving, patient people who don't expect anything from me that I can't do yet, but let me come in gently. People who see my small progress and celebrate every step with me. My mom says I would be best suited for older, calm people! I can get to know my dear foster mom in 91469 Hagenbuechach. Whoever wants to win my heart can give me a paw.

About Lexi

What life with Lexi looks like

Lexi is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ankerhunde e.V. in Novi Grad.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇧🇦Adopting from Bosnia and Herzegovina

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lexi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lexi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ankerhunde e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lexi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lexi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ankerhunde e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Lexi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lexi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ankerhunde e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lexi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
