Lia &#8211

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Lia now lives in 65232 Taunusstein. All the best, Lia. Heartfelt thanks, Mr. B. Lia is a beautiful and very affectionate one-and-a-half-year-old (as of April 2024) Breton female — and she received the "good girl" seal in gold and with an honor wreath from her foster family. Our wonderful little droopy-eared girl was taken in by an animal rescuer in July 2023, who immediately noticed that Lia was neglected and poorly fed. She took the female dog home, had her chipped — and indeed, a few days later, a owner came to the door demanding Lia back. Since it turned out that the exhausted animal had likely only lived on the street for two days, and the signs of a bad life were traceable to her "home," the animal welfare workers from Dolmen Animal set some conditions for the release of the dog. The owner was not willing to meet these demands and instead agreed to give Lia into the custody of the animal shelter. Now, Lia leads a life befitting a princess. She has developed wonderfully in her temporary home and delights her foster family. Lia is very well-behaved and clingy and quiet in the house. She shows the most enthusiasm for long walks, and in adventure mode, her hunting instinct can take over at times. This is typical for our Bretons, as they are the smallest sighthounds and have been used for centuries as faithful hunting companions. Also typical of a Breton is Lia's gentle nature; she is trusting to lead, learns quickly, and is delighted by any recognition of her bright little head. At the moment, Lia lives with another four-legged friend and children — both are no problem for the young dog lady, and she is delighted by the endurance of her co-residents when it comes to playing and cuddling. In the car, Lia is a model passenger, and she even masters restaurant visits with style (and can handle all the fans who want to get to know her better). Lia is a young, cheerful, and exceptionally friendly female dog, eagerly waiting to be the best friend in the world to an equally active and humorous family. If you are active and humorous, if you love to nap in the garden, even on rainy walks, if you have the time to work with a clever and eager-to-learn girl, and if you can already feel how wonderful it is to stroke Lia's silky fur on a cozy evening while watching a movie on a long, dark winter night, then we look forward to hearing from you soon!

Lia lebt jetzt in 65232 Taunusstein. Alles Gute, Lia.

About Lia &#8211

What life with Lia &#8211 looks like

Lia &#8211 is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lia &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lia &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lia &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lia &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lia &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lia &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lia &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
