adoption requirements adoption process Inquire about this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Inquire about this dog now! The little Lia was found together with her brother Mar by our animal welfare worker Dorel in a place where no puppy should ever live: between a heavily trafficked road and railway tracks. It was probably only a matter of time before something terrible happened to them. Fortunately, Dorel was able to rescue them in time and bring them to safety. Immediately after their rescue, both puppies were taken to the vet, where it was discovered that they had fevers and were severely dehydrated. Thanks to prompt treatment, both have recovered well and can now look forward to the future with hope. Lia is about 4 months old and will likely grow into a medium-sized dog. Particularly striking are her curly black coat with a lovely white chest and her adorable "bat ears" that stick out sideways from her head, giving her a very special charm. Of the two siblings, Lia is currently the shyer one. When visitors arrive, she prefers to cautiously hide in the bushes and observe everything from a safe distance first. Nevertheless, she always remains sweet and calm, lets herself be handled without trouble, and bravely endures new situations. Lia simply needs time to build trust and leave behind the traumatic experiences of her early months. With patience and loving support, she will surely learn to open up more and more. Lia is still at the beginning of her life and will soon enter puberty—a thrilling phase during which she’ll need continued loving yet consistent guidance. For Lia, we hope to find a quiet home with understanding people who will give her the time she needs. A confident only dog could provide her with additional security but isn’t required. After a positive... Many thanks to Nele S.. Thanks to you, Lia now has an identity and can finally begin searching for her forever home. As of: 05.05. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Lieben Dank an Nele S..

About Lia

What life with Lia looks like

Lia is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
