Adopt Liberty

Mixed Breed Cat · Unknown · Young · 3 years

Hello my name is Liberty.A little while ago, life was very frightening for me. I was found outside with my five tiny kittens, trying my best to keep them safe under very scary circumstances. Thankfully, some very kind humans from NAWT came to rescue us and ever since then I’ve been slowly discovering that the world can actually be quite nice after all.I’m still a sensitive girl, but with the people I know and love, I’ve become affectionate and sweet. I enjoy gentle head strokes and if I really trust you, I might even curl up for a cuddle. I just need a little time and patience to feel safe enough to show you that side of me.My kittens are now growing up and getting ready to start lives of their own, so it’s finally my turn to find a home where I can simply be a normal cat instead of always being in survival mode.I dream of a calm, peaceful home with kind people who understand that sometimes I may need a bit of space while I build my confidence. More than anything, I would love to discover all the comforts I’ve missed out on until now, like curling up on a cosy sofa, snoozing peacefully in comfy spots and feeling warm sunshine through the windows on a quiet afternoon.I think I’ve been brave for long enough. Now I’m ready to be safe, loved, and finally home, so please apply for me today. About Liberty

What life with Liberty looks like

Liberty is a very small young adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at National Animal Welfare Trust in Watford.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Liberty, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Liberty?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. National Animal Welfare Trust handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Liberty on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Liberty if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — National Animal Welfare Trust will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Liberty already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Liberty isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with National Animal Welfare Trust early rather than rehoming privately; they know Liberty and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
