adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this cat! Lilette was found in a very poor condition: severely ill with pyometra, paralyzed, and helpless. After a life-saving operation where all her teeth were removed, Lavi decided to give her a permanent home. So began a new life of safety and security for Lilette – especially important since she is FIV-positive. Today, Lilette shows how affectionate and cuddly she can be. At first, she was shy around strangers, but she warms up quickly with time, patience, and affection. Then she becomes active, purrs loudly, and enjoys every pet. Whoever gives Lilette their heart will feel how much she craves closeness and how loyal and grateful she can be. Lilette gets along well with other cats; she is not much interested in them, so single-holding under loving care is possible but not necessarily required. Dogs have not been tested, but they are likely not a problem. A free run is not suitable due to her condition – she feels safe and comfortable in a protected home. Lilette is FIV-positive, which does not hinder a happy cat life. FIV only affects other cats and can only be transmitted through bite wounds. With patience, love, and responsible care, FIV-positive cats can lead just as long and healthy a life as FIV-negative cats. A free run is not possible for her, but her safe home more than adequately replaces this. For her travel arrangements, Lilette is vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas, and tested negative for FeLV. Her EU pet passport will of course be included. When you take in Lilette, you gain a sensitive, cuddly, and loyal companion who seeks trust, security, and intimate closeness. With patience and love, she will become a cat that fills her people's hearts in a very special way. A heartfelt thank you to the sponsors Claudia and Jörg B. Best placed with a resident cat (second-cat home).

About Lilette

What life with Lilette looks like

Lilette is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lilette, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lilette?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lilette on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lilette if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lilette already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lilette isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lilette and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
