Lilly

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Lilly was a very worried girl when she initially came into our care. She has been at another rescue and we don't know her history but she's only two years old. Once Lilly has got to know someone she really comes out of her shell and loves to greet you excitedly, and she's happy to play with you as you throw her toys for her. She's begun to explore the centre too, and although she can be unsure about some thing she comes across, give her time and she finds her confidence to investigate. we've definitely found that a go-slow approach is much appreciated by Lilly, from putting on her harness to getting in the van, and her adopters should adopt the same method to set her up for success. Lil can be quite vocal when it comes to other dogs but when she gets a chance to interact, she doesn't quite know what to do with herself. She would benefit greatly if her family could find her one or two very calm and polite pals to walk with that won't want to overly interact with her. Lilly can live with teenagers but will need to be the only dog at home at present, though some walking friends would be nice once settled. We have no history for her so cannot say for sure whether she is house trained, and she would benefit from someone at home most of the day initially, as she may not be used to spending time by herself.

About Lilly

What life with Lilly looks like

Lilly is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Dogs Trust Merseyside in Liverpool.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lilly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lilly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Merseyside handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lilly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lilly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Merseyside will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lilly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lilly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Merseyside early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lilly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
