Lily came to Farplace in 2023 after previously spending around two years with an owner. She came to us from a rescue in South Shields as a special needs cat, and we’re very glad that she was given the chance to come here and find the right home. Lily has always been a very sassy girl with a big personality! In the past, she could become a little overwhelmed by too much fuss and would sometimes lash out when she’d had enough. Since coming to Farplace, though, she has mellowed enormously and now regularly seeks out kisses, cuddles and strokes. She still has her limits and will definitely let you know when she’s ready for some personal space, so she’s looking for someone who understands cats and is happy to respect her boundaries. She’s a very funny, affectionate girl who will keep you entertained with her antics. She loves her food and has a particular fondness for drinking from a running tap! Lily is long-haired and needs regular grooming to prevent her coat from becoming matted. She’s not yet a huge fan of being brushed and has needed to have her coat clipped under sedation in the past. With patience, time and gentle handling, we’d hope she can become more comfortable with grooming, although she may always prefer to make her feelings about it known! Lily has also had some heart checks during her time with us. During a health check in 2023, a grade 3 heart murmur was detected. She had a heart scan that year and another one in 2025, and thankfully the murmur was not present during her most recent scan. It may have been stress-related, but it is something her new family should be aware of and discuss with their vet as part of her ongoing care. Lily isn’t particularly keen on other cats, so we’d ideally like her to be an only cat. She would suit someone who is confident and cat-savvy, and we’d prefer a home without other pets where she can have her own space and plenty of attention. She does enjoy watching the world outside, so a secure catio would be lovely, although a good sunny windowsill may well satisfy her just as much. Lily is a very special combination of sassy, funny and incredibly loving, and we’re looking for someone who will appreciate all of those qualities and give her the time and understanding she deserves. Lily needs an indoor-only home. A secure catio or enclosed garden would be a lovely bonus, but isn’t essential. As with all of our cats, Lily will leave Farplace spayed, microchipped and vaccinated, with her flea and worm treatment up to date, and following a full health check. We’ll also provide you with a full copy of her veterinary records to keep for your own records when she goes off to her new home. Indoor-only policy If you feel you could offer this lovely cat the right home, please email for an adoption questionnaire. We can then arrange a home check. We are happy to consider homes up to around two hours’ travel from the rescue. Any further than this can make it difficult for us to offer the support we feel is important after adoption.
