adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Lior has found a home! His story: A glimpse into Lior's amber eyes is enough – and one feels his quiet strength and big heart. This beautiful male dog with his silky black-and-white fur radiates deep kindness despite everything he has experienced. Lior is approximately 4 years old, 65 cm tall, and weighs around 30 kg – a sturdy but exceptionally gentle dog who gets along well with people as well as other dogs. He already walks nicely on a leash, enjoys cuddles, and constantly seeks the company of humans. His demeanor is quiet, friendly, and trusting – a true wonder when one knows his past and with a story that touches the heart. Lior was caught near Zalău – likely with a wire noose that dug deep into his neck and left a terrible wound. Severely injured, he was brought to the city shelter in Zalău, a place where dogs often have no chance of survival. But Lior had a stroke of luck: He was discovered in time, rescued, and brought to another shelter where his wounds were medically treated and have since fully healed. Despite the painful past, Lior has preserved his loving nature. No resentment, no aggression – only quiet hope for a better life. And that is exactly what we want to give him now. For Lior, we are looking for a quiet home with empathetic, dog-experienced people who will show him the world with patience and love. As he likely carries herding dog genes, we wish for him a rural home with a fenced yard and ample retreat options. Children should already be older and well-behaved, and a respectful handling of dogs is assumed. He is still unfamiliar with life in a house – but with his gentle nature, he will surely adapt well if given the necessary time. His reaction to cats is currently unknown. Lior lives in a foster home among a group of about 25 dogs, ranging from small to large and young to old, on a secured property. He gets along well with all of them and can also be placed with an existing only dog or come into foster care. After a positive evaluation, he will travel neutered, microchipped, dewormed, and treated for fleas. Additionally, he has an EU pet passport. Lior has survived – now he wants to live. If you want to give this brave, gentle dog a home full of security, please contact us. Maybe you are the person he has been waiting for. Many thanks to Peggy W. for giving Lior his name and thus his identity. As of 10.09.

Stand: 10.09.2025

About Lior

What life with Lior looks like

Lior is a extra-large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lior, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lior?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lior on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lior if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lior already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lior isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lior and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
