Adopt Liza

German Shepherd · Female · Adult · 4 years

LIZA (approx. 55cm) Liza and her sister Mona were found alone when they were about 14 weeks old. As no one was looking for them or asking about them, they came to our Greek cooperative animal shelter. We assume that they were simply abandoned. Since then, the two sisters have developed into beautiful and fluffy young dogs. Both Liza and Mona are very fond of people and are always very happy when someone pets them and gives them attention. Due to the lack of exercise in the shelter, the sisters have become a bit chubby and would be very happy in an active home where they can gradually build up their fitness and lose weight. Both Liza and Mona like other dogs very much and have integrated well into a mixed group of dogs of different ages. If they want to play, they often run around among themselves and leave the older ones in peace. Nevertheless, life in the shelter is very monotonous and does not challenge them. We would be very happy if these cheerful characters could find their people as soon as possible, with whom they finally get the proper amount of cuddles and both physical and mental stimulation. The two will also be placed individually. Liza is still at the beginning regarding training and does not yet know life outside the shelter. Here, patience, understanding, and of course time are needed for good training and education. Liza is not suitable for absolute first-time dog owners due to her breed. We cannot confirm or rule out compatibility with cats. We will gladly send you videos upon request. Liza travels vaccinated, spayed, with an identification chip and EU pet passport. She will be tested for travel diseases before departure. All our dogs travel with an adjusted safety harness! We would like to point out that all our rescue dogs, whose backgrounds we often know little or nothing about, are directly transferred from the collection centers to their families. Especially in the initial period, they therefore need a lot of time and patience. The animals are usually not housebroken, cannot walk on a leash, and do not know commands. In addition, they can be shy or easily frightened at first. Please be aware of this. Are you interested in this dog? Then click on this link to go directly to the adoption form. Current pictures

About Liza

What life with Liza looks like

Liza is a medium-sized adult german shepherd dog waiting at Paradies für Tiere e.V. in Reutlingen.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Liza, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Liza?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Paradies für Tiere e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Liza on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Liza if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Paradies für Tiere e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Liza already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Liza isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Paradies für Tiere e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Liza and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
