Mixed Breed · Male

Loki ID Number: 1052401 Breed: Mixed breed Age: approx. 12/2019 Gender: male Shoulder height: approx. 75 cm Neutered/Sterilized: Yes Accommodation / Location: Marbella (Spain) Inquiry form Loki - a big heart that can finally heal Loki (born approx. 12/2019, approx. 75 cm) is an impressive dog, both physically and in terms of his character. He originally came to our Spanish animal shelter Triple A in Marbella at the age of only one year as a stray dog. At that time, he seemed to have drawn the big prize, because after just one week he was already allowed to move into a home. However, 16 months later this dream burst. The family had new children and Loki developed an overly strong protective behavior, which his humans unfortunately could not cope with. So he ended up back with us behind bars. You can immediately see his imposing size, but if you take the time, you get to know his true, gentle core. Recently, one of our volunteers took him on an outing into the forest, and this impressive bear showed an incredibly gentle and touching side. Away from the noisy stress of the animal shelter, he revealed himself as an absolutely calm giant. He enjoyed the undivided attention of our volunteer, absorbing every loving caress and walking beautifully relaxed on the leash. In these moments you simply feel his huge heart, which was unfortunately broken in his old family. When it comes to getting along with other dogs, Loki often depends on sympathy. He does not get along well with most other males, but he gets along with females. During dog encounters on the leash, he shows reactivity. Here, he definitely needs a confident guidance and people who are physically completely up to the task and have a secure stance due to his enormous strength. However, our training in the animal shelter already shows great successes. If the distance is large enough and you direct his gaze in time so that he does not fall into fixation, he can already pass by other dogs completely calmly. For our wonderful mixed breed, we are now looking for a countryside home with a large and securely fenced property. Loki's new experienced family should bring the physical and mental strength to confidently lead such a big dog. To give him and all involved the necessary calm and safety, there should be no children or small animals living in his new home. Whoever gives him the necessary guidance and a lot of love will gain an absolutely wonderful and loyal partner for life. Loki is vaccinated, microchipped and has an EU pet passport. Upon his departure, he is neutered, tested for Mediterranean diseases, and dewormed and treated against fleas. About Loki

What life with Loki looks like

Loki is a extra-large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Helfende Hände e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Loki, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Loki?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Helfende Hände e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Loki on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Loki if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Helfende Hände e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Loki already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Loki isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Helfende Hände e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Loki and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
