Lola

Mixed Breed · Female

Everyone, meet Lola ❤️ Lola is a hound, and despite everything she has been through, she is one of the sweetest, gentlest souls you could ever hope to meet. A few weeks ago, Lola’s life changed forever. A gentleman had been out fishing when he spotted her chained up in a back garden on a short chain. He went home, but something about the little dog stayed with him. A few days later, he took a day off work and went back to check on her. He knocked the door and asked about Lola, only to be told that they didn’t really want her and that he could take her away. And so he did. Lola arrived with us in poor condition, carrying all the signs of a dog who had spent much of her life living outside with very little comfort, companionship or care. Yet somehow, she has remained incredibly loving, trusting and kind. There isn’t a bad bone in this girl’s body. She adores people, loves other dogs, and has the most gentle, affectionate nature. She asks for so little, yet deserves so much more than life has given her so far. One of the greatest joys has been watching Lola discover just how wonderful life indoors can be. Warm beds, soft blankets, company, comfort and love — all the things that should have been hers from the very beginning. Now we’re looking for the next chapter in Lola’s story. No more chains. No more gardens. No more being forgotten. We want Lola to have what every dog deserves — a family who loves her, a warm home where she is treasured, and a sofa she can finally call her own. After everything she has endured, it’s time for Lola to know what it feels like to truly belong. Could you be the family she’s been waiting for? ❤️

About Lola

What life with Lola looks like

Lola is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Almost Home Animal Rescue NI in Belfast.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇮🇪Adopting from Ireland

Irish shelters require a home check (often phone or video) and an adoption contract. Animals are vaccinated, chipped, and registered. Cross-border placements to mainland Europe require the rabies titer test (TRACES system).

Frequently asked

Adopting Lola, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lola?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Almost Home Animal Rescue NI handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lola on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lola if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Almost Home Animal Rescue NI will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lola already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lola isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Almost Home Animal Rescue NI early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lola and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
