Adopt Loona

Female · Adult · 5 years

Lovely Loona is intelligent, loving, fun and endlessly rewarding to be around. She adores human company and greets new people with a wagging tail and friendly enthusiasm, making her a wonderful choice for a home that enjoys having regular visitors. At home, she is affectionate, often wandering over and standing close by when she's ready for a cuddle. Ear scratches, belly rubs and carrots are her favourite things and she loves playing with rope toys and squashy toys! Whether you're heading out on a countryside walk, welcoming friends into your home, or simply relaxing together at the end of the day, Loona has all the qualities of a lovely best friend who will quickly become a cherished part of the family. Please note: If you already have an open adoption application and are interested in knowing if Loona is a match, please let us know you are interested in her by emailing us on . Appointment slots are available everyday from 11. Loona is a beautiful 5-year-old German Shepherd looking for an active, loving home with adopters who can offer her patience and understanding as she continues to grow in confidence. She is a wonderfully well rounded girl who has lived happily with preschool aged children and could fit into a variety of environments, from a bustling city centre to a quieter residential area. Loona walks nicely on lead and is comfortable around busy roads, travels calmly on long journeys, and has experience living alongside cats. She can also live with another dog, although she is perfectly content doing her own thing most of the time. What Loona will benefit from most is a calm family who can support her, encourage her and help her feel even more confident as she explores the world around her. In return, they will gain a loyal and affectionate companion who is ready to be part of everyday adventures.

About Loona

What life with Loona looks like

Loona is a adult dog waiting at Dogs Trust Shoreham in Shoreham by Sea.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Loona, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Loona?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Shoreham handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Loona on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Loona if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Shoreham will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Loona already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Loona isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Shoreham early rather than rehoming privately; they know Loona and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
