Loto

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 10 years

What can you possibly do to a living being? A caring place is urgently needed! Loto is a female dog with a past that was certainly not pleasant. The poor dog was handed over to our Spanish partner animal shelter in a disastrous condition. Loto had an untreated hernia and numerous fatty tumors. Her fur and skin are neglected. The small body shows signs of hunger and neglect. In the shelter, Loto appears to be rather submissive when interacting with people. It is obvious that the loving little dog probably did not receive any care or attention in her past. And yet, Loto has kept her loving soul. What Loto urgently needs now is a loving place. Loto must be revived and lovingly cared for. Also, she needs to regain 100% trust in us humans. A test for Mediterranean diseases came back negative. Therefore, we are urgently looking for a loving home for Loto. This home should have the necessary resources to provide the dog with sufficient attention, time, and care. We wish a quiet and relaxed environment for the dog. If you want to do everything possible so that both the body and soul of Loto can recover and the dog can enjoy many more beautiful years, then we look forward to your inquiry. Adopting a rescue dog always means taking on a special responsibility and can also become a challenge. The dogs come with a backpack of past experiences or unlearned situations and need time to adapt to their new life. If you have a serious interest in adopting Loto, please contact the responsible advisor from SALVA Dog Rescue. We would also be very happy about the provision of a foster home. The contact details can be found below. Here is Loto's video.

About Loto

What life with Loto looks like

Loto is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Loto, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Loto?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Loto on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Loto if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Loto already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Loto isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Loto and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
