Louie

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Hello, my name is Louie and I’m a one-year-old Cavapoo looking for my perfect forever home. I’m a sweet, affectionate boy once I get to know you, and if you’re willing to give me a little time and understanding, I promise I’ll be your loyal best friend. I do have a few quirks, but that’s all part of my charm! I can be a bit vocal when I’m feeling frustrated out and about, so I’m not really the type of dog who dreams of spending weekends at busy cafés, bustling parks, or crowded events. The quieter life suits me much better. My ideal home would be in a rural or peaceful location, away from busy walking areas where I can enjoy relaxed adventures without too much going on around me. While I can be friendly with other dogs when introductions are handled properly, I’d prefer to have dog friends for the occasional walk rather than living with them full-time. I’m looking for an experienced home with people who understand that some dogs need a little extra support, patience and guidance while they settle in and build confidence. Once I trust you, my loving and affectionate nature really shines through. I would love a home where my humans are around for much of the day. Any time spent on my own will need to be built up gradually and at my pace, so low leaving hours are important while I settle in. At home, I’m house trained, although I may have a few accidents while I’m settling into a new environment. Please be patient with me as I learn my new routine. I also have a cheeky side that I’m sure you’ll discover before long – I do like to keep life interesting! I’m looking for an adult-only home with a low number of visitors, where I can feel safe, secure and relaxed. I’ll need a secure garden with 6ft fencing so I can enjoy some outdoor time safely. I would also like to be the only pet in the home, so no other dogs or animals please. I do have some medical needs, but don’t worry – one of the team will be happy to talk you through everything and answer any questions you may have.

About Louie

What life with Louie looks like

Louie is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Jerry Green Dog Rescue in Lincoln.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Louie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Louie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Jerry Green Dog Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Louie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Louie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Jerry Green Dog Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Louie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Louie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Jerry Green Dog Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Louie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
