Loyd

Mixed Breed · Male

Loyd is an exceptional dog with a gentle disposition, born in June 2022 and currently weighing 21.5 kg. He is a young, full of positive energy male who came into our care after the death of his previous owner. His behavior clearly shows how much he misses a consistent human connection and the warmth of a home. Loyd is a very friendly and trusting dog who readily opens up to new acquaintances, quickly forming relationships even with strangers. He loves being petted and actively seeks attention from the caregiver, showing great delicacy in the process. His attitude towards other dogs is exemplary – he is a pacifist who prefers to step back and avoid conflict in situations of potential misunderstandings or altercations. Although his reaction to cats remains unknown, his overall gentleness allows us to assume that with proper introduction, he could become a good family pet. Loyd has a moderate level of energy; on one hand, he loves exploring the environment and actively discovering the world, while on the other, he can maintain calmness and patience, as he demonstrated during cleaning procedures, which he endured with great courage. The only area requiring attention is his walking on a leash, where Loyd currently pulls quite strongly, which likely stems from his enthusiasm and curiosity about the world. We are looking for a responsible home that will appreciate his wonderful character and dedicate time to his training and building a bond together. This lively and gentle dog will undoubtedly reward his new owners with immense affection and loyalty. Loyd is microchipped, declawed, vaccinated, and neutered.

PL·Show original

About Loyd

What life with Loyd looks like

Loyd is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Loyd, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Loyd?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Loyd on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Loyd if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Loyd already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Loyd isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Loyd and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
