Luca

Staffordshire Bull Terrier · Male · Adult · 5 years

Support and Health How much training will I need? Needs some support Can I be left alone? Yes Luca is his happiest when he is with his people; however previously he has been left for up to 8 hours. Do I have any medical conditions? History of Luca has historic medical conditions, namely ear infections and a nail infection, that will require consideration before this pet is rehomed. Our rehoming team will be able to give you further information if you apply to rehome them and you are a successful match. We would also advise that any medical conditions, be that historic or ongoing, are discussed with your own vet prior to taking them home. Who I can live with Can I live with dogs? No Can I live with cats? No Can I live with small pets? Yes, conditionally - securely house and kept separately. Additional information Luca doesn’t really seek much interaction with other dogs. He can mix nicely with similarly minded dogs who do their own thing, but he generally seeks affection from people instead. Family and environment What kind of family am I looking for? Luca would only be suitable for children 8 years or older, as he has very little experience around them. He is very affectionate and loves his people, so any overly bouncy behaviour is an expression of his excitement. What type of environment would suit me? Luca would enjoy access to a garden as he loves to play with a ball! He will happily bring it to you for it to be thrown, however this isn’t essential. He is very ball driven and needs his people to help him learn when to settle and stop playing. About Luca Luca is a sweet natured and happy chap who takes the world in his stride. His handsome looks and waggy tail gain the attention of everyone he meets. Luca is looking for a fun loving, playful home, where he can receive as much love as he gives out.

About Luca

What life with Luca looks like

Luca is a small adult staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at Woodgreen Pets Charity in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Luca, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Luca?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Woodgreen Pets Charity handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Luca on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Luca if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Woodgreen Pets Charity will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Luca already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Luca isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Woodgreen Pets Charity early rather than rehoming privately; they know Luca and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (the shelter's own language). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
