adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Lucia has found a home! Her story: Lucia – A gentle soul seeks her forever home Lucia is an approximately three-year-old female dog who, despite many terrible experiences, has not lost her big heart for people. With her impressive shoulder height of 64 cm and around 40 kg body weight, she appears imposing at first, but her true nature is shown in her gentleness and empathy. A painful past – yet a heart full of love Lucia was found pregnant on the street, but unfortunately, she lost all her puppies. It wasn't enough, she carries a visible scar from her past: her left ear was cut off – a sad reminder of the cruelties she had to endure. But all this has not broken her loving character. Currently, Lucia lives in the shelter in Fantanele in an enclosed outdoor area, which provides her with protection but no security. Every day, she eagerly waits for the moments when a caregiver comes to give her a few cuddles. As soon as someone approaches, she stands at the fence and watches attentively, hoping to get a little affection. A female dog with a heart of gold Lucia is described as very adoptable. She is friendly, cuddly, and loves the contact with people. Even in her interactions with other dogs, she shows a warm, soft nature and greets them kindly and respectfully. Since she has mostly lived outdoors so far, she is not familiar with typical household rules like tidiness or walking on a leash. We wish for Lucia a loving home in the countryside with a securely fenced garden, where she can move freely and enjoy the freedom that has been denied her for so long. Lucia will undoubtedly be a treasure for any family – her warm nature and loyalty make her a faithful companion for life. Lucia will of course bring her own EU pet passport. Due to her copied ear, an entry into Switzerland is unfortunately not possible. Many thanks, Maria D., for taking over her namingsponsoring. Many thanks, Isabel B.! You support Lucia with a monthly sponsorship! As of: 05.02. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Vielen Dank Isabel B.! Du unterstützt Lucia mit einer monatlichen Patenschaft! Stand: 05.02.2025

About Lucia

What life with Lucia looks like

Lucia is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lucia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lucia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lucia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lucia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lucia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lucia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lucia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
