Lucy

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel · Female · Adult · 7 years

Trixie – Available For Adoption Lucy is a gorgeous 7-year-old Tricolour Cavalier who came into rescue under sad circumstances. She is a very loveable, loyal little dog who adores her humans and wants to be with them as much as possible. She is a little joy to have around and has settled beautifully in foster. Lucy loves company, enjoys being close to her people, and is happiest when she can potter around knowing her humans are nearby. Lucy does have some mild separation anxiety, so she will need a home where someone is around for most of the day. She has been left for short periods with no issues, but she would not suit a home where she is regularly left for long hours. She is great with other dogs and is used to living alongside them, but she could also be rehomed as an only dog in the right home. Lucy is also cat friendly and does not bother or interact with the foster family’s cat. Lucy walks extremely well when out and travels very well in the car. At the moment, she is best suited to shorter, sensible walks due to her orthopaedic issues, but she still enjoys getting out and about. She is a sweet, easy girl with no behavioural concerns other than needing support around being left. Lucy would make a wonderful companion for a home looking for a loyal, affectionate Cavalier. ✅ Health conditions: Lucy has hip dysplasia with arthritis and spondylosis, diagnosed by X-ray. Her pain is currently well controlled with medication, and she will need to remain on this long term. She also has Chiari-like malformation, which is being kept well controlled with medication. Lucy is heart clear and has no other known health conditions. She has had a major dental in rescue and is up to date with vaccinations. 💊 On medication? Yes – Onsior and Gabapentin. Lucy’s conditions are pre-existing and will require ongoing management. Adopters must be financially prepared to continue her medication and routine veterinary care long term. 🐾 Behaviour traits: Loving, loyal, gentle, affectionate, easy-going, people-focused 🎾 Activity level: Low to moderate – shorter, sensible walks required 📚 Training required: Ongoing support with mild separation anxiety and maintaining a steady routine. 🏡 Type of home required: Calm, loving home where someone is around most of the time. Lucy could live as an only dog or with friendly resident dogs. A secure garden and adopters happy to provide shorter walks and ongoing medical care are essential. 📌 Important Notes ✔️ Lucy has mild separation anxiety and must not be left for long periods. ✔️ Her hip dysplasia, arthritis, spondylosis, and Chiari-like malformation are pre-existing conditions requiring ongoing medication. ✔️ She is best suited to shorter, sensible walks rather than long or high-impact exercise. ✔️ Home check and meet & greet required within 7–10 days of applying. ✔️ Please read our adoption procedure before applying:

About Lucy

What life with Lucy looks like

Lucy is a adult cavalier king charles spaniel dog waiting at Bliss Cavalier Rescue in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lucy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lucy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Bliss Cavalier Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lucy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lucy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Bliss Cavalier Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lucy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lucy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Bliss Cavalier Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lucy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
