The story of Luke is unfortunately not an exception in Romania. On a rainy day, when rescuer Timea was doing errands, she saw Luke walking around a parking lot. He was clearly looking for food and begged by passing cars. Because he was very thin, Timea gave him something to eat. From that moment on, he was found at the parking lot every day, waiting faithfully for her arrival. Eventually, there was a temporary address available, so Luke no longer had to wander around the parking lot. He was allowed to stay with an elderly couple and lived in the garden for a while. There, the people said that Luke has a heart of gold. They described him as extremely gentle and devoted. Moreover, it turned out he was a real all-rounder: he treats all dogs he meets kindly, and also likes puppies. However, Luke could not stay there. Life in a garden made him restless, because he likes to be close to his people. Unfortunately, there was no space for him in the house, while that is exactly what he needs to feel safe. After that, Luke ended up on an industrial estate. There, he sat in a kennel during the day and walked loose at night. For a year now, he has been back with rescuer Timea, where he patiently waits for his golden bed. Although this is better than roaming, it is absolutely not an ideal situation for such a kind and people-oriented dog. Because of these circumstances, we hope that Luke will soon find a family of his own. With the right guidance, he can learn how life in a house works and develop into a loyal house dog. Het verhaal van Luke is helaas geen uitzondering in Roemenië. Op een regenachtige dag, toen rescuer Timea boodschappen deed, zag zij Luke op een parkeerplaats rondlopen. Hij was duidelijk op zoek naar eten en bedelde bij voorbijrijdende auto’s. Omdat hij erg mager was, gaf Timea hem te eten. Vanaf dat moment was hij iedere dag op de parkeerplaats te vinden, waar hij trouw wachtte op haar komst. Uiteindelijk kwam er een tijdelijk adres beschikbaar en daardoor hoefde Luke niet langer op de parkeerplaats te zwerven. Hij mocht verblijven bij een ouder echtpaar en leefde daar een tijd in de tuin. Daar lieten de mensen weten dat Luke een hart van goud heeft. Ze omschreven hem als enorm zachtaardig en aanhankelijk. Bovendien bleek hij een echte allemansvriend te zijn: hij gaat vriendelijk om met alle honden die hij ontmoet en ook pups vindt hij leuk. Toch kon Luke daar niet blijven. Het leven in een tuin maakte hem onrustig, omdat hij graag dicht bij zijn mensen is. In huis was helaas geen plaats voor hem, terwijl juist dat is wat hij nodig heeft om zich veilig te voelen. Daarna kwam Luke terecht op een bedrijventerrein. Daar zat hij overdag in een kennel en liep hij ’s nachts los. Sinds een jaar is hij terug bij rescuer Timea, waar hij geduldig wacht op zijn gouden mand. Hoewel dit beter is dan zwerven, is het absoluut geen ideale situatie voor zo’n lieve en mensgerichte hond. Vanwege deze omstandigheden hopen we dat Luke snel een eigen familie vindt. Met de juiste begeleiding kan hij leren hoe het leven in huis werkt en zich ontwikkelen tot een trouwe huishond.
