Luna

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy

Mixed-breed Luna - small paws, big hope Luna is one of six siblings rescued by our Bulgarian animal welfare colleagues. She is now safe, but her life is about to change. A shelter is not a place where a young dog should spend its childhood. Luna wants to find her own family or foster home as soon as possible. Like any puppy, Luna is just starting her life. She will have to learn many things that are taken for granted: leash, house training, short periods of being alone, and the many sounds and impressions of everyday life. She needs people who will show her how life works with patience, calmness, and understanding. There will be beautiful progress, but also occasional setbacks. It is important that Luna gets the time she needs. A puppy means responsibility and a lot of time together - but also the wonderful opportunity to grow together from the start and accompany a dog for life. Luna is waiting for her people to give her security, take her paw, and discover the world with her. Adopting a shelter dog always means taking on special responsibility and can also become a challenge. The dogs bring a backpack with past experiences or unlearned situations and need time to adjust to their new life. If you are seriously interested in adopting Luna, please contact the responsible SALVA Hundehilfe mediator. We would also be very happy to provide a foster home. Here is Luna's video

About Luna

What life with Luna looks like

Luna is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Luna, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Luna?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Luna on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Luna if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Luna already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Luna isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Luna and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
