Luna

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Luna is a female dog of about 2 years old (March 2026) and has a height of approximately 58 cm. She was rescued by rescuer Timea after living along the road for a longer period. Her story began when an appeal was made about a mother dog with four puppies. Because the location was far away and the shelter was already full, local solutions were first tried. Fortunately, it was possible to find a home for the puppies. However, the mother dog was left behind. Therefore, help was requested again, and eventually she was taken in. Luna is described as a kind and smart dog. She is affectionate and seeks contact, but also has a clear will of her own. Therefore, she is not a dog for beginners. She needs an adopter with experience who can guide her in a calm and consistent way. Furthermore, she is quiet in the car. She still needs to learn to walk on a leash, which will require time and training. With the right guidance, she can grow in this area. She gets along well with other dogs and likes to play. However, she tends to take the lead. Therefore, it is wise to feed her separately and provide her with clear structure. Finally, Luna is an intelligent and characterful dog who thrives best with an experienced adopter. With the right guidance, she can develop into a nice family dog. Who will give this smart and special lady a suitable home where she can continue to grow and be herself? Photos and Video Luna is looking for a nice home ❤️ Size: approx. 58 cm / approx. 25-30 kg Born: estimated 2024 Spayed: Yes Location: Sovata, Romania Cats: unknown Horses: unknown Temperament: Smart, affectionate, playful, friendly We think Luna can develop into a nice family dog with your help! She is doing well with her foster in Romania. That does not mean she will not have to adjust a lot to a new living environment. Her new owner is patient and will guide her well. About Luna

What life with Luna looks like

Luna is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Stichting Help een Hond in Netherlands.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Luna, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Luna?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Stichting Help een Hond handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Luna on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Luna if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Stichting Help een Hond will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Luna already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Luna isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Stichting Help een Hond early rather than rehoming privately; they know Luna and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
