Sky

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Sky is a beautiful Friese Stabij with a very sweet and affectionate personality. She loves to show her happiness when she sees you! She is enthusiastic, social, and especially loves attention. Give her a spot on your couch and she will cuddle with you for hours. Sky really enjoys being with her owner. She gets along well with other dogs, but sometimes finds the first meeting a bit exciting. She would do best as a single pet, so she can have all the attention for herself. A household with a social, calm dog is also possible, as long as it gives her the space to get to know them at her own pace. During walks, Sky still needs some guidance. She can pull on the leash and bark at other dogs. Despite this behavior, she is actually very friendly to other dogs. Unfamiliar sounds, such as street noises or church bells, can also trigger her to bark. A quiet living environment would be very nice for Sky, so she is not constantly exposed to stimuli that she finds difficult. Another important point to consider is being left alone. Sky finds this very difficult and can bark for a long time and destroy things when left alone. This will therefore need to be rebuilt slowly and step by step. We are looking for a home for her where she will not be left alone for long periods of time. Driving is also something Sky needs to practice regularly. She was very car sick at first. By taking her in the car daily, this eventually passed. When she doesn't drive for a longer time, the car sickness can unfortunately come back. Regular practice helps her with this. Sky knows the basic commands and has already participated in dog training a few times. This went very well! She is therefore certainly willing to learn and train further with her owner. For Sky, we are looking for a loving and quiet home where she can be with her owner a lot. An owner who wants to guide her with being alone, walking and dealing with stimuli, but at the same time wants to enjoy her enormous enthusiasm and cuddles. ❤️ Are you looking for an incredibly sweet, enthusiastic and affectionate dog and do you have the time and patience to train with Sky? Then this beautiful lady could be your perfect match. ❤️🐾 Vroenhoutseweg 37 4703 SH Roosendaal Tel.

NL·Show original

❤️🐾 Vroenhoutseweg 37 4703 SH Roosendaal Tel.

About Sky

What life with Sky looks like

Sky is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Het Dierenhuis in Netherlands.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Het Dierenhuis handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Het Dierenhuis will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Het Dierenhuis early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
