Luna

Female · Adult · 7 years

Is boundless love for humans enough for adoption, when two surgeries have already been performed? Is a curable disease too much to deserve a warm bed and a bowl in her own home? Luna arrived at the animal shelter in a condition hard to forget. Extremely underweight, neglected, with eyes filled with fear. She was attached to a tree, and previously probably lived in conditions far from care. Today she is a different dog. In relationships with people, Luna has nothing more to offer than limitless devotion. And that is really a lot. She also handles interactions with children quite well, as proven by her participation in numerous events from the Adopt Warsaw Dog series. Urban space does not pose a taboo for her, although she does not like fast-moving bicycles close by. She barks then. On walks she is calm and gentle, but if another dog approaches her too intensely, she can set boundaries. The future caregiver can help her get used to stimuli and teach her that the world can also be gentle. It's not a difficult job, rather attention and consistency. In return, Luna offers everything she has - warm clinging to the side, joyful tail wagging, little kisses, and willingness for shared play. For homes with resident animals, it will be necessary to check the relationship during the pre-adoption visit. Luna needs a person beside her. Someone who will allow her to sleep peacefully, without worrying that tomorrow she will lose something again. Especially since she is battling a terminal gastrointestinal disease. After the treatment was implemented in shelter conditions, she was stabilized. With proper home care, there is a real chance that this good situation will be maintained. Luna will need a diet, occasional veterinary check-ups, and, if needed, pharmacological support. It may happen that in the home she will require constant cleaning. Volunteers offer support in learning care, or choosing food. We do not leave our foster animals after adoption: we remain in contact and support you at every stage of your shared future. The foundation Friends of Paluch will also support the adoption. The legend says that when the full moon is in the sky, miracles happen. Reality proves that whoever looks into the eyes of our goddess of the Moon - Luna - immediately experiences a miracle of love. If you have a place in your heart for kindness, attention, and the readiness to accept a dog with a history that requires care, Luna is waiting. Maybe you will be her miracle? About Luna

What life with Luna looks like

Luna is a large adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Digestive tract disease requiring special diet, occasional veterinary monitoring, and possible pharmaceutical support. May need permanent diaper care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Luna, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Luna?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Luna on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Luna if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Luna already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Luna isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Luna and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
