adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Lykka has found a home! Her story: 33332 Gütersloh. Our Lykka has now lived with her foster family for several weeks and has already shown remarkable development. She regularly meets other dogs and then always plays with great enthusiasm. The young female dog is fundamentally absolutely open, enjoys playing, training, and cuddling, especially with the children (7+10 years) who she loves more than anything. Anyone who comes home is always greeted with wagging tails and great joy. In the house, Lykka can now rest well and sleep in her cozy dog bed. She also runs well on the leash and already knows a few command words. Lykka is an exceptionally intelligent dog who loves to learn and has fun with new exercises. She can already be called off on a lead and Lykka has been house-trained reliably so far. Ball and fetch games are currently Lykka's favorite hobby, and she eagerly participates in long, well-walks. Lykka would definitely be enthusiastic about various dog sports at any time, because she is always highly motivated during each training and open to learning new tricks. She also behaves impressively in unfamiliar and new situations. Cars, cyclists, or other pedestrians no longer scare her, and she is interested in her surroundings. Only with larger vehicles like buses or trucks does she occasionally show a slight skepticism. But with the help of her handler, she can master any situation well. We are looking for active and sporty people for Lykka who are eager to share adventures with Lykka and help develop her talents. Our Lykka is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. She brings her EU pet passport with her and can be adopted after a positive Der lieben Susanne P., we would like to thank her warmly, as she has chosen the perfect name for our little treasure. Hard to believe, but Lykka comes from Swedish and means the Happy One – what an omen!

About Lykka

What life with Lykka looks like

Lykka is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lykka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lykka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lykka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lykka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lykka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lykka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lykka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
