Mabel

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Lotti (formerly Mabel) now lives in a foster home, where she reveals a little more each day just how wonderful a dog she truly is. During her brief stay in her first home, she was assessed by a dog trainer. This assessment, combined with the experiences of the foster home, helps us today to understand Lotti even better. Once Lotti has gained trust, she becomes an incredibly loyal, cuddly, and people-oriented companion. She actively seeks the proximity of her trusted humans, closely follows their lead, and wants to do everything right. She learns very quickly, accepts boundaries well, and continues to develop more and more with each passing day. Even in everyday life, Lotti is making great progress. Driving in the car is no problem for her at all—only getting into the car still needs a bit more practice. On the leash, she already walks beautifully, even on busier streets. Cars, bicycles, and pedestrians now mostly leave her calm and composed. She sniffs around enthusiastically, displaying the typical traits of a curious dog. She’s incredibly smart and learns rapidly. Lotti originally came from a Romanian animal shelter and had to get used to our everyday life. Many noises, situations, and impressions were completely new to her. Despite this, she’s developing remarkably fast and demonstrates just how eager to learn and adaptable she is. In her first home, however, it also became clear that in uncertain situations, Lotti tends to want to protect her trusted humans and her home. She’s still particularly unsettled by strangers. The dog trainer’s assessment made it clear that Lotti primarily needs security and guidance here. Especially sensitive dogs look to their humans for orientation— the calmer and more confident their humans appear, the easier it is for them to build their own trust.

About Mabel

What life with Mabel looks like

Mabel is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mabel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mabel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mabel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mabel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mabel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mabel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mabel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
