Reserved / adopter found πŸ‘‰ click here for our available dogs in Netherlands, pups and adults Or πŸ‘‰ click here for our available pups, still in the animal shelter Below is the original information about Maeyve, a wonderful home has now been found for her! She travels to her adopter in June, in Sweden. * For an explanation, please read Why we are cautious about placing our dogs with families with (young) children. Maeyve is an extremely cheerful pup with an inquisitive and gentle character. Within a week, Maeyve was completely comfortable with the two people in the foster family and can really enjoy cuddles and attention. What Maeyve needs most from her new people, besides lots of love, is lots of patience. She will need some time to build up trust, but once she has trust in you, she is a friend for life! In addition, Maeyve would love to go tracking/trailing with her new owner(s) once she is settled. This activity is extremely good for her confidence but also strengthens the bond between her and her future owner(s).

About Maeyve

What life with Maeyve looks like

Maeyve is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Straydogs Rescue Nederland in RC Nieuwe Pekela.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window β€” house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maeyve, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maeyve?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Straydogs Rescue Nederland handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maeyve on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maeyve if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Straydogs Rescue Nederland will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maeyve already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maeyve isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Straydogs Rescue Nederland early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maeyve and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
