Maggie

Mixed Breed Β· Female Β· Puppy

IDEAL HOME: a home with a garden LIVING WITH CHILDREN: I could live with children 10 years plus LIVING WITH DOGS: I could benefit from a doggy household as I'm very well socialised LIVING WITH CATS: I’ve never lived with cats Meet Maggie, our gorgeous 10-month-old crossbreed who is ready to find an active family to share all her adventures with! We were told Maggie was a Rhodesian Ridgeback cross, but to be honest, we can see the potential for all sorts of breeds in this lovely girl, so we're not entirely sure! Whatever her mix, one thing is certain: Maggie is full of life, incredibly bright and has bags of personality. Maggie is a very sociable girl who absolutely loves other dogs. She has clearly been well socialised, which is always a huge bonus, and we feel she could really benefit from living with another friendly, well-socialised dog or even a multi-dog household where she can enjoy canine companionship. Walks with Maggie are certainly entertaining! She is a real sniffer, with her nose firmly to the ground for much of the walk, following every interesting scent she comes across. Her enthusiasm can sometimes get the better of her, and she'll happily try to follow a scent right past your legs, so watch your step! She can also be strong on the lead when she gets excited, meaning her lead training will need to continue in her new home. Initially, Maggie was a little nervous around new people, but we feel this was understandable given the huge change in her life and finding herself in kennels. With time, patience and positive experiences, we hope her confidence will continue to grow. Maggie is an incredibly intelligent girl, and we think training will be a fun and rewarding experience for both her and her new owners. At just 10 months old, she is still very much a puppy and has lots to learn. She needs guidance, consistency and positive training to help her develop into a happy, confident and well-mannered adult dog. She absolutely loves having a good run and play in our free-run pen and is a huge fan of toys, regardless of what they are! An active home that enjoys getting outdoors and involving their dog in everyday life would be ideal for this energetic young lady. An active home: Maggie needs owners who enjoy being outdoors and can provide daily walks, appropriate exercise and plenty of opportunities to explore and sniff. Her exercise should be balanced with rest, as she is still growing. Ongoing training: Lead manners, recall, impulse control and general obedience will all need to be worked on using positive, reward-based methods. Maggie is still learning, so patience and consistency will be essential. Mental stimulation: Scent games, enrichment toys, puzzle feeders and short training sessions will help keep her clever mind occupied and prevent boredom. Canine companionship: Maggie is very sociable with other dogs, and we feel she could thrive living with a friendly, well-socialised dog or in a multi-dog household. This isn't necessarily essential, provided her social and exercise needs can be met. A secure garden: A safe space to play and explore would be beneficial. Maggie will also need continued recall training, with off-lead exercise restricted to secure, enclosed areas until her recall is reliable. Older children only: Maggie could potentially live with children aged 10 years and over who understand dogs, respect their boundaries and know when to give them space. Her bouncy, excitable behaviour could be overwhelming for younger children. No cats: Maggie has never lived with cats, so we would not rehome her to a household with cats. Time, patience and routine: Maggie needs owners who understand the adolescent stage of development and can provide structure, companionship, boundaries and plenty of positive experiences as she matures. A commitment to her future: Maggie will benefit from continued socialisation, regular veterinary care and a family prepared to help her develop into a happy, well-mannered adult dog. Maggie is still a youngster with so much potential. She isn't going to arrive fully trained, and her new family will need to be prepared to put in the time and effort to help her learn. However, with consistent guidance, appropriate exercise and plenty of positive experiences, we believe she could grow into a fantastic companion. If you're looking for an intelligent, playful and sociable young dog who will keep you on your toes and reward your efforts with plenty of fun, could Maggie be the girl for you? ❀️ Interested in adopting Maggie? About Maggie

What life with Maggie looks like

Maggie is an extra-large puppy mixed breed dog waiting at SARA Ann Prosser Foundation in United Kingdom.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window β€” house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maggie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maggie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SARA Ann Prosser Foundation handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maggie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maggie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” SARA Ann Prosser Foundation will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Maggie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maggie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SARA Ann Prosser Foundation early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maggie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
