A dog care team has been doing significant sterilization work in the nearby, very poor Budila area for several years. In areas like Budila, where people are also poor and live in harsh conditions, there are especially many dogs in yards and roaming freely, and so puppies are constantly being born. The team regularly visits the area to pick up dogs for sterilization and then returns them to their homes after the operation. On almost every visit, they are asked not to return the dog being picked up for sterilization or that the team could take along a dog that is roaming in the area without an owner. Although often dogs cannot be taken when the shelter is full, sometimes a lucky one gets to go. This happened in June 2026, when the adorable Maisa was picked up for sterilization. The family she lived with no longer wanted her back, so Maisa was allowed to stay at the shelter to find a home. Maisa is a fun person. Although her life has certainly not been easy, she seems to radiate a joy of life and carefree nature. She approaches all people with great joy and is immediately climbing into the laps of both familiar and strangers in the hope of a scratch. After moving to the shelter, she has participated in large group walks from the start and walking on a leash goes well. At the shelter, she has treated other dogs kindly and shares a kennel with another energetic young female without problems. Maisa's previous living area is very lively and perhaps that is why she seems to have gotten used to all sorts of things. So she could move to many different homes, as long as the family remembers that Maisa is still young and will probably need exercise and activities at home to stay happy.

Juuri Budilan kaltaisilla alueilla, missä ihmisetkin ovat köyhiä ja elävät karuissa oloissa, on erityisen paljon koiria pihoilla ja vapaana ja niinpä myös pentuja syntyy jatkuvasti. Tarhan työntekijät käyvät säännöllisesti hakemassa alueen koiria steriloitaviksi ja palauttavat ne sitten koteihinsa operaation jälkeen. Lähes jokaisella vierailulla heiltä pyydetään, ettei steriloitavaksi haettua koiraa palautettaisi tai että tarhan työntekijät voisivat ottaa mukaansa jonkun koiran, joka juoksentelee alueella omistamattomana. Vaikka usein koiria ei voida ottaa tarhan ollessa täynnä, pääsee aina välillä joku onnekas mukaan. Näin kävi kesäkuussa 2026, kun herttainen Maisa haettiin steriloitavaksi. Perhe jonka luona hän asui ei enää halunnut häntä takaisin ja niin Maisa sai jäädä tarhalle etsimään kotia. Maisa on hauska persoona. Vaikka hänen elämänsä ei varmasti ole ollut helppoa, hän tuntuu suorastaan säteilevän elämäniloa ja huolettomuutta. Hän suhtautuu kaikkiin ihmisiin suurella ilolla ja on heti kiipeämässä niin tuttujen kuin vieraidenkin syliin rapsutusten toivossa. Tarhalle muutettuaan hän on alusta asti osallistunut myös isoihin yhteiskävelyihin ja hihnassa kulkeminen sujuu hienosti. Muihin koiriin hän on tarhalla suhtautunut ystävällisesti ja hän jakaa häkin toisen vauhdikkaan nuoren nartun kanssa ongelmitta.Maisan aiempi asuinalue on hyvin vilkas ja ehkäpä juuri siksi hän tuntuu tottuneen vähän kaikenlaiseen. Niinpä hän voisikin muuttaa monenlaiseen kotiin, kunhan perhe muistaa että Maisa on vielä nuori ja kaipaa varmasti kotona liikuntaa ja tekemistä pysyäkseen tyytyväisenä.
