Maisie

Belgian Malinois · Female · Young · 1 year

There’s a very cheeky little character hiding behind Maisie’s initial shyness! New people and situations can feel a little overwhelming at first, but with gentle reassurance and a little time, she soon starts to find her feet. The more confident Maisie becomes, the more her playful and cheeky side comes out! She still has plenty of puppy fun about her and loves learning new things, especially when she gets the chance to show off just how clever she is. Maisie is still learning how to socialise with other dogs, so having some regular walking buddies could be a lovely way for her to build confidence and enjoy positive experiences at her own pace. She’s a sweet, bright girl with so much potential, and watching her blossom into her happy, playful self will be incredibly rewarding. Maisie is a 1-year-old Malinois looking for a loving home where she can take things at her own pace, with someone by her side to help her confidence grow. For now, she’ll need to be the only pet in the home, although she may be able to live with dogs in the future as her confidence and social skills develop. She can live with older secondary school-aged children and will initially need low leaving hours while she settles into her new home. Maisie is also a brilliant little traveller and is happy in the car, so she’ll be ready to join you on adventures!

About Maisie

What life with Maisie looks like

Maisie is a young adult belgian malinois dog waiting at Dogs Trust Shrewsbury in Telford.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maisie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maisie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Shrewsbury handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maisie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maisie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Shrewsbury will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maisie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maisie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Shrewsbury early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maisie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
