Major

Male · Puppy · 5 months

Attention! Meet our lovely Major! This young Staffie cross pup is a super sweet, sensitive boy with so much love to give. Major is lacking in life experience and can find many everyday things quite intimidating. He's looking for a family with previous experience of worried or sensitive dogs who are confident, patient, and committed to helping him build his confidence through positive training. Watching this lovely lad come out of his shell and grow into a happy, well-rounded companion will be an incredibly rewarding experience. Major is interested in other dogs but is still finding his confidence and isn't quite ready to join in with play. He could happily live with a calm, confident role model dog who can help show him the ropes and build his social skills. As Major arrived with us as a stray, we don't know anything about his previous experiences with cats or children. Due to his young age, he could potentially live with a dog-savvy cat that won't be fazed by an enthusiastic youngster. As we've seen that Major can be quite worried in new situations, we feel he would be best suited to a home with sensible teenagers who will enjoy being involved in his training while respecting his need for space when he's feeling overwhelmed. Because Major is still so young and inexperienced, he's looking for a home with access to a private garden and quieter walking routes. Having a secure outdoor space will allow him to explore the world at his own pace and gradually build his confidence in a safe, supportive environment. If you're looking for a gentle young dog to nurture and help flourish, Major is ready to steal your heart. If you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about Major, you can e-mail our rehoming team on to register your interest.

About Major

What life with Major looks like

Major is a medium-sized puppy/kitten dog waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Major, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Major?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Major on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Major if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Major already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Major isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Major and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
