Mali

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

Mali is a 3-year-old female Malinois who has been living at the shelter for over 3 years. She is a very people-oriented dog who loves children and is a cheerful and manageable dog who wants to be led and guided. She is house-trained, walks well on a leash, rides in the car without problems, and can stay alone for a reasonable amount of time after being exercised. Mali is not a barker and is a loving dog who is loyal to her owners and friendly with strangers. After several weeks of intensive dog training, it can be said that she runs well in a pack with clear leadership. She has learned to respect other dogs and no longer reacts to every provocation. With clear leadership, she can be called back and, like all shepherds, focuses on her owner. The hunting instinct that Mali brings can also be handled with clear leadership. Mali needs people she can rely on and who have leadership skills without being aggressive or loud. Since Mali was mistakenly classified as a livestock guardian dog, we had a genetic test done on her, which shows that Marli carries 49% shepherd-guardian breed, 35% hunting dog Apotier Laufhund breeds, and only 16% livestock guardian. And just as she behaves, loyal to her family, watchful, and with a hunting instinct that is manageable with clear leadership. Unfortunately, Mali is also an absolute emergency. She was given up by her family after over 3 years because they were 100% sure they had a pure livestock guardian dog in front of them who could not be educated. We are looking for a home for Mali with people who are experienced with dogs, who are willing to work with Mali on the topic of dog encounters, who are willing to give Mali a loving home with consistent education and exercise. The association can also imagine a foster home with the option of taking over. It is important to us that you know that what Mali has learned wrongly over 3 years cannot be completely eliminated in a few weeks. It takes people who have experience and enjoy the fun of following the path with Mali to the end. We are happy if you would like to visit Mali without obligation and get to know her. Multiple visits and walks are also welcome. We are happy to answer all your questions and look forward to your contact with a meaningful presentation about the new home. Of course, we can present the genetic test and our dog trainer will also be happy to provide information about Mali.

DE·Show original

AUFENTHALTSORT

About Mali

What life with Mali looks like

Mali is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. in Greece.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Greek shelters often partner with Northern European rescue groups for placements. Animals are sterilized, vaccinated, and chipped before adoption. Fees vary widely depending on whether the shelter is municipal or NGO-run.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mali, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mali?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mali on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mali if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mali already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mali isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mali and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
