Malte

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy

Malte is a dog who was rescued with his brother Michel as a pup. Since then, he has been staying with rescuer Timea, where he is safe, but still waiting for his own home. At a height of about 35-37 cm and weighing around 13 kg, he is slightly smaller than his brother. He has a somewhat lower built body with a longer back, giving him a charming and recognizable appearance. In April 2026, volunteers traveled to Romania and met Malte in person. There, they noticed that he is a kind and people-oriented dog. Additionally, he is easy to approach and open to contact. He clearly enjoys attention and likes to be petted. He is also social in his interactions with other dogs. As with every dog, Malte will need time to adjust to a new environment. With calmness, patience and guidance, he can further develop into a nice and reliable house dog. Finally, Malte is a lovely, people-oriented and gentle young dog who has been waiting for a long time for his chance. Malte is ready to make the exciting journey to the Netherlands. Who will give this special dog a warm home where he can finally enjoy life? 💛 Photos and Videos Malte is looking for a nice home ❤️ Size: approx. 35-37 cm / approx. 13 kg Born: estimated April 27, 2024 Neutered: yes Accommodation: Sovata, Romania Cats: unknown Horses: unknown Temperament: people-oriented, friendly, social, gentle We think Malte can develop into a nice house dog with your help! About Malte

What life with Malte looks like

Malte is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Stichting Help een Hond in Netherlands.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Malte, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Malte?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Stichting Help een Hond handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Malte on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Malte if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Stichting Help een Hond will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Malte already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Malte isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Stichting Help een Hond early rather than rehoming privately; they know Malte and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
