In the animal shelter since: October Estimated age: born approx. July 2026 Estimated final shoulder height: approx. 40 – 59 cm Estimated final weight: 20 – 35 kg Earliest departure: 28.11. Get to know Manny right here in the video! Little puppy Manny dreams of his own family! Manny was rescued together with other puppies from an abandoned house in Romania. Stray dogs had settled there and were being fed by neighbors. When they were rescued, the puppies were initially a bit frightened, but they could be secured without trouble. Manny is now safe in our animal shelter and can hope for a better future. You can find more information about how the dogs come to the shelter, and answers to general questions, in our animal welfare FAQ. So far, Manny shows the curious and playful behavior typical of puppies. The world is still something he is discovering step by step. His character will continue to develop over the coming weeks and months; at this point, only the beginnings are visible. If you would like more information about this furry friend, feel free to write to our placement team. Puppies should not have to grow up in a shelter. That is why we urgently seek a loving home or an experienced foster home for this little furry friend, a place where he can discover the world, build trust, and simply be a puppy. Anyone adopting a puppy should be aware of how demanding everyday life with a young dog can be. Once house-training is achieved, the "wild adolescence" often begins, full of energy, insecurities, and new challenges. The first years of life are an exciting journey that human and dog take together, with highs, lows, and plenty of learning moments. We wish for this furry friend people with patience, empathy, and perseverance, and with an understanding that shelter dogs often come with some history. How exactly they will react to their new life in Germany can never be fully predicted. But one thing is certain: whoever adopts rather than buys not only gives an animal a second chance, but actively chooses against animal suffering, and for a life with a very special companion by their side. Already smitten? Send us a self-disclosure form! Adoption If you are thinking about adopting, first read through the placement process. All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas, and neutered before departure (exceptions are puppies under 6 months and very old dogs). Dogs older than 1 year are additionally tested for Mediterranean diseases. If you have any further questions, feel free to write a message to our placement team.

About Manny

What life with Manny looks like

Manny is a small puppy mixed breed dog waiting at Hunderettung Europa e.V. in Duisburg.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Manny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Manny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hunderettung Europa e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Manny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Manny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hunderettung Europa e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Manny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Manny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hunderettung Europa e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Manny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
